Somehow I found myself thinking about this this morning and thought it to be something the world might be able to relate to.
Some of my Sillier fears:
1. Being abducted by aliens
2. I always sort of bound on and off of elevators, because I am nervous the elevator is going to drop as I am stepping off/on, and cut me in half.
3. When I take a drink from a water fountain, I am nervous that someone will push my head into the fountain... happened in grade school, hurt like crazy and I'll never forget it.
4. There are creatures lurking in deep water waiting to get me (more under control these days... but still gives me the willies)
5. Occasionally, the utterly ridiculous idea of someone being in my attic gives me a chill.
6. Sometimes when I am alone in the woods, or a dark street, I imagine the voice of Robert Stack (from unsolved mysteries), narrating my situation, as if something really bad is about to happen.... you try doing that without it unsettling you.

Jake, thanks. Now I'm all nervous here at home. My one stabilizing thought is that my manly husband will save me. But now I know you're just as afraid!
Love, Wife
I have many of those same fears.
1. Someone is always imaginatively chasing me up stairs from a dark basement.
2. I never leave my fingers in a door way, someone may slam the door and cut them off.
3. Having the earth open up and swallow me whole without any one knowing about it...yikes!
4. We use to have this old green lazy boy chair and I would dream that Lions and Wolves would come out from under it and come eat me alive at night. I never sat in that chair growing up!
Sleep tight,
Lance Stott
I know that when I play to many Zombie shooter games I always half-expect to open a door and find a red-eyed, posthumous ambulatory assailant ready to gnaw on me...but mostly I'm afraid of soccer moms driving their SUV's and talking on their cell phones (being the avid motorcyclist that I am).
i don't really want to open this can of worms, (lots of psycho-therapy down the drain).. i have never slept well, so i have had plenty of opportunities to ponder on the unnatural, and make it 'natural' to me!
1. when driving, i have seen the futuristic 'crash' i will be in, being still alive and seen from my perspective the work of emergency personel attaching things to me.
2. Random thoughts of something sliding off of a truck in front of me and going through my head, turning to my passenger and seeing the horror on their face.
3. the moment just after being shot in the head and dying..(i know this is scarier than you were intending)
4. waking up with an odd stray animal laying on my bed.
5. watching myself snowmobile straight in to a large tree and not being able to turn, and bracing for what ever will happen.
i think none of these things will ever happen to me becaue i have been preoccupied with them for so long that i have developed my defense strategy for each one!!
#6...only Jake haha
Jake,
This is your cousin Lory Hall(wheeler), I found your blog thanks to Keith, I have really enjoyed reading your comments. I have always enjoyed your family and the times you spent at my parents home in Monticello and the time I was able to spend in Salt Lake with yours! As for fears I have way too many which is one reason I will NEVER be able to watch scary movies!!
Oh my word! I don't even want to go into my fears....they are to weird and too many. YOurs and Josh's are really scary. Josh, the waking up to a strange animal on your bed....that one sounds familiar:) MOM
wow disturbing thoughts... I would be a little more uneasy as well annie! haha I do think of those crazy things as well tho.. us humans are weird.. I mean really weird! haha
Ever since early childhood (walking home from Syra Mangus's house)I have this thing that when I am walking and I hear a car coming behind me on the road, I pick a spot in front of me and know that if I don't reach it before the car does, I have been kidnapped or flattened--the scary part is that I am not allowed to change my pace at all. Gets my heart racing every time, but I am trapped (I can't stop myself!).
I guess not everyone needs to know these sort of things about each other, but it makes for interesting blogging!
This is about an un-politically correct as it gets but here goes. I've always imagined when I'm walking up from the basement that an indian chief is going to throw a tomahawk into my back.
So true! I'm glad these things don't just freak me out.
My personal variations:
#2. I'm nervous of being cut in half only when entering the lift. On exit I imagine the lift cable will snap, and for some reason it will make me unbalanced and I'll fall backwards down the shaft.
#4. It when anything brushes your naked leg in murky water that give me the willies. Hence I only swim in pools or in the clear sea.
#5. I only think about it when I climb into it. I really need to rig up a movement sensor to switch the lights on as SOON as I start lifting the hatch.
#6. I imagine the text that appears on a change of scene from x-files (Swindon, UK 21:05...)
I'm surprised at the lack of clowns being featured in these lists.
I'll add a couple of my own original fears:
#1. When looking out of a window when it's dark - the light from the window illuminates a figure brandishing a knife. This figure is most scary if it's a clown.
#2. The fear of looking at external glass doors at night, just in case there is a clown standing there.
#3. Sneezing when driving next to steep drops (I think this comes from an early memory of my dad blowing a huge bubble gum bubble that popped over his glasses while he was driving, and my uncertainty about how good his eyesight was without glasses!)
