A Mid-Summer’s Report…
Well here we are, it’s almost mid-July. Summer has been pretty great so far, and should just keep getting better. We have been able to visit the smiling faces of family and snow capped peaks in Utah. In Utah Annie (and Jake) were able to rehone their ice shavings skills Jake for a few shifts and Annie for a few weeks. She’s still got it! And Snoasis (Jake’s family’s snow shack) is still as busy as ever. Jake was able to play two very fun gigs with his old college band (a wedding in bountiful and a business party at La Chaille) It is almost an accurate statement to say that Jake lives to play with the band. He had such a good time!
Our Eugene summer has been great so far. For all of the rain and grey of winter, Willamette Valley summers are pretty dang nice. Weather hasn’t gotten too hot, and the nights always cool down really well. We had a barbecue for the fourth of July this year. It was the American dream. The meat was juicy, the company was pleasant, the garden was rockin, the yard was … not too distracting and the badminton was unparalleled!
We got to experience a little bit of the US Olympic Trials here. That was a lot of fun! Our neighbor is a hammer thrower (he didn’t qualify, but it was fun to be involved in the trials on that personal level).
We will be traveling to New Hampshire next week. We are very excited to see Annie’s family and spend some quality time with them! I went into New Hampshire for about 4 minutes with my Dad and brother Dan about 6 years ago… I really enjoyed my time there… I look forward to seeing more of it this time.
When I come home from New Hampshire I will be immediately preparing for scout camp. Six twelve to thirteen year olds for five days… Maybe I should have scheduled vacation for after scout camp…
Life is pretty good. Summer is not what it used to be, but it will always be my favorite!
