Too long!

My goodness it has been way too long since we updated. And this time it certainly isn't because there hasn't been much going on. August was whirlwind, and wonderful. We started out the month hosting Annie's sister and her kids. Jessica somehow got her kids from Ohio to Oregon (via Utah, Sun Valley, and everyplace in between) in a minivan... by herself. It was SO fun to have them here. We saw the biggest trees in the world (Redwoods), went on a wildlife safari (Winston, Oregon) visited sea lion caves and tide pools, and did some swimming in the pristine Smith River (and our bishop's pool!) What a great time!




Then it was off to Utah for what I guess we would call our summer vacation. Utah was great! For the first part of the week we just visited family, friends, and played some lokalgrown shows. It was really just right. The second part of the week was an adventurous trip down to southeastern Utah to retrace some of the steps and events of my great grandfather Joseph Platte Callister (if you follow our blog at all, you know I have been pre-occupied with him for the last few years). My parents, sister and husband, and brother and kids joined us. It was "epic." We had so much fun out in the desert... and particularly in desert areas where water was to be found (which we tried to arrange as much as possible).
It was a very moving experience to be with family in places that were very special to family. I am making an attempt to do a comprehensive summary of this trip, the places, the history, etc. so I wont get into it now, but enjoy the pics:






Also of note is the birthday party that Annie and her friend put together for Annie's thirtieth. We were out in the middle of a field, with pretty lights, delicious food, stellar company and just unforgettable times. It was so much fun! Hopefully we can track down some pics and share them soon.

Finally, Annie and I are 18 weeks along. She is a cute little pregnant lady. We will find out the sex(s) this coming week. We are SOOO excited.
