Fiver years and counting...

5 years ago yesterday, Annie and I were married in the Washington DC temple. 5 years! Good gracious. In some ways it feels a lot like, and in others it does not at all. Certainly five years ago when I heard about people being married for five years it sounded like a long time. Anyway, Annie is in girls camp prep mode (which includes designing and making a 14 foot Teepee....definitely the subject of another blog entry). Because of this, and the fact that we are honored and pleased to have my cousin Jordan in town, led to a less "focused" anniversary celebration. But it doesn't mean fun and even great things weren't accomplished.
Jordan and I went on an 11-mile hike through the three Sisters wildreness. It was stunning up there! We had a great hike. I am very sore. Upon return we went out to eat at Cornecopia (a burger joint in Eugene). We enjoyed the air conditioning in the restaurant, and I couldn't stop watching Dick Smothers who came in and sat near us. I am not kidding... there is NO question that it was Dick Smothers!!
Afterward we went to Voodoo doughnuts, and immortalized ourselves in the five year anniversary pics below. We wrapped up the evening with the movie 2012, which was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen, but was fun in that ridiculous sort of way.

We intend to celebrate properly once girls and scout camp are done (a true reason for celebration). It was still a great day!!

alright..obviously we are brothers! when ever i have a beard for a while and make the commitement to shave it off, i always do the exact style you have in your pictures with annie! i call it the 'Hetfield'... you can probably guess why. it was funny to see that and i am assuming you are clean shaven as of this moment. i on the other hand have grown quite a beard in the hopes you would still have yours for the southern utah trip! perhaps i will have 'my' Hetfield at that time.
